M.F. Husain - Artwork 118

A fluid ink sketch of a reclining female figure accompanied by a stylized elephant form, drawn with confident, calligraphic strokes and soft grey wash. The economy of line and playful flattening of volume give the composition a lyrical, almost whimsical cadence that hints at mythic narrative. Set in a simple mat and frame, the work’s delicate paper tone and restrained palette emphasize draughtsmanship and movement.

The interplay between the human and animal forms reads as an intimate vignette, suggestive of storytelling and classical motifs reinterpreted through a modern sensibility.
