Loose, gestural black-and-brown washes sketch a fragmentary urban scene, the fluid strokes suggesting shelter, structure and the grit of everyday life.

The composition relies on stark contrasts and spontaneous marks to evoke texture and depth rather than precise detail, giving the work an improvisational, immediate quality. The interplay of negative space and calligraphic ink creates a rhythmic, almost musical arrangement of forms: leaning planes, shadowed recesses and sparse highlights that together conjure the atmosphere of an austerely lit alley or makeshift dwelling.
