A village scene is dominated by towering, shaggy masquerade figures rendered in dense, rhythmic bands of black, cream, ochre, and brown. Their elongated fibre-like costumes create a strong sense of movement and tactile weight, while horn-shaped ornaments and braided details give the figures a ceremonial presence. Earthen walls, thatched roofs, a ladder, small vessels, and distant animals establish a rustic communal setting.
At the centre, a framed reflective surface repeats one masked figure, introducing an intriguing play between observation and representation. The compressed perspective and carefully outlined forms lend the composition a direct, folk-like clarity, while the sweeping striped textures generate visual energy across the otherwise muted architectural ground.
