Shishir Bhatt - Artwork 406

An intricately detailed portrait rendered with dense ink linework set against a wash of cool blue. At close range the face resolves into a tapestry of miniature marine life, spirals and textured marks — fish, octopus and coral motifs weave through hair and beard — producing a hybrid image that is both human and oceanic. The artist combines meticulous drawing with broad, atmospheric washes to create contrast between micro-detail and expansive colour.

The result is a lyrical, narrative portrait that invites examination: its smiling subject serves as a hub for countless tiny stories, each rendered with patient, ornamental precision.
