Unknown - Tree of Life - Painting - Artwork 422

A finely worked panel of vibrant folk imagery, this composition arranges stylized birds and a dense network of leaves around a flowing black tree motif.

The artist employs repetitive hatch marks and bold outlines, punctuating the design with bright blues, greens and reds to create a rhythmic, tapestry-like surface. Framed in a decorative gold moulding, the work reads as a contemporary presentation of an indigenous tree-of-life theme: a decorative border containing repeated organic motifs, flattened perspective and an emphasis on pattern which together give the piece a ceremonial, talismanic presence.
