Vikas Kalra - Artwork 434

A raw, head-like form emerges from layered washes of ochre, red and black, its planes articulated by frenetic black strokes.

The composition pairs aggressive calligraphic lines with scraped textures and sudden white highlights to suggest a fractured portrait wed to emotional turbulence. Set within a slim pale frame, the piece balances violent mark-making against generous negative space: turquoise and dark grey fields ground the form while the central mass seems to breathe with movement, its surface recording an intimate, urgent energy.
