Arpana Caur - Artwork 496

Rendered on a dark field, this work assembles a theatrical still life: a central elevated slab contains fantastical creatures—peacocks, a leaping animal and sinuous fish-like forms—set before a linear, schematic cityscape sketched in white. Golden bone-like supports and flowing ornamental motifs below give the composition a ritual, cabinet-like quality. The painting balances meticulous miniature-like detailing with larger, sweeping strokes, producing a dreamlike tableau that feels both mythic and modern.

The refined framing and generous matting frame the scene like a relic, amplifying its narrative mystery and painterly finesse.
