A nocturnal, alchemical tableau, this work centers on a contemplative animal figure—catlike in profile—rendered through layered washes of ochre, metallic highlights and charcoal shadows. Intricate map-like textures and compass motifs seem embedded beneath the surface, giving the creature’s body the appearance of a vessel or star-chart; a small orb to the left floats like a distant planet, creating a poetic conversation between figure and cosmos. The artist’s technique blends soft-ground chiaroscuro with splattered pigments and glazed overlays to produce a sense of depth and weathered patina; luminous golds and cooled silvers play against near-black negative space.
