Iranna - Artwork 597

A small-scale painting showing the back of a seated figure draped in a vibrant orange robe, rendered against a patterned grey ground. The figure — cropped closely and seen from behind — is painted with warm, painterly strokes while the background is a layered, textured field of silvered motifs and burnished marks that introduce metallic and distressed effects. The juxtaposition of the meditative human presence and the abstracted, almost map-like ground produces a contemplative tension: the robe’s saturated red-orange anchors the composition while the gestural, stippled background and scorched linear elements suggest memory, ritual and the passage of time.

The work reads as an intimate study of stillness made vivid through layered surface treatment and restrained palette.
