Sampat - Artwork 659
A spirited blue heron rises at the center of a warm, layered field of ochres, mauves and rose grounds, its body rendered with bold, confident brushstrokes and gilt-like highlights. The bird’s form—both gestural and architectonic—is framed by sweeping, translucent planes that give the composition a buoyant, lyrical motion. Texture and mark-making are prominent: scraped passages, washes and energetic splatters interweave with more controlled strokes to articulate feathers and shadow.
The piece feels like a celebration of movement and color, marrying natural observation with an expressive painterly vocabulary.
