Sohrai Jharkhand - Artwork 665

This panel presents a panoramic village vista under a low sun, rendered in the restrained Sohrai palette of earthy browns, siennas and blacks.

Clustered thatch-roof huts, a cart and work animals form a gently undulating horizon, while bold tree silhouettes and the textured sky provide a decorative backdrop. Deliberate brushwork and patterned infill celebrate everyday rural labor: the repeated leaf and animal motifs applied to walls and roofs transform mundane architecture into a tapestry of communal memory, giving the composition both intimacy and a ritualized sense of timelessness.
