Raju Kumar - Artwork 7

An abstracted face—eyes closed, features suggested rather than defined—emerges from layered washes of ochre, russet and turquoise, the artist using scraping and impasto to create depth and weathered surfaces. Vertical drips and uneven textures give the panel a sense of erosion and time, as if an ancient visage is revealed through peeled plaster and varnish. The composition balances figuration and abstraction: while facial planes remain subtle and meditative, the painterly gestures and torn areas introduce tension between preservation and decay.

The result is evocative and atmospheric, inviting quiet reflection on memory and the slow passage of years.
