Katanari Nancy Tjlia and Alison Riley - Tree of Life
A vibrant vertical composition of densely stippled pigments and rhythmic line-work, this Tree of Life rendering pulses with ochres, reds and punctuated yellows. Central organic forms—rounded, leaf-like motifs and concentric ovals—are surrounded by flowing bands of color and thousands of tiny dots that map a living landscape, producing both texture and movement. Presented within a wide white mat and narrow frame, the work balances fine detail with bold graphic areas: sinuous striped bands rise and fall like layered strata while dotted fields suggest sky, soil and ancestral presence.
The overall effect is meditative and celebratory, a contemporary Indigenous imagining that reads as a ceremonial map and a lyrical portrait of growth and connection.
