Suhas Roy - Artwork 733

A narrow vertical print framed with a generous white margin, this work presents a carved, stylized figure rendered in dark tones against a textured ochre field. The head and torso are simplified into rhythmic linear marks and shallow relief, giving the image an archaic, totemic presence; the palette and surface treatment suggest an intaglio or mixed-media relief print with metallic highlights. The composition’s restrained geometry and tactile surface invite a contemplative reading: elongated proportions and incised drawing recall modernist experiments with primitivism while the subtle gold and greenish patina lend the piece a quietly ceremonial air.

Signed and numbered at the lower border, the work balances formal austerity with a quietly expressive, handcrafted finish.
