Vikas Kalra - Artwork 740

A dramatic, visceral portrait executed with aggressive, gestural marks against a blazing red ground, this work confronts the viewer with a monumental, mask-like head rendered in dense blacks and scraped gold. The central figure's eyes and elongated nose emerge from a tumult of scratches and impasto, while vertical drips and scratched lines lend a raw, urgent energy to the surface. Presented as a signed and numbered print reproduction within a white mat, the image preserves the original's physicality and emotional intensity; the stark contrast between the crimson field and dark form amplifies its confrontational, almost primal presence.

The composition reads as an exploration of identity and interior turmoil, realized through bold mark-making and textured layering.
