Apurva Sukant - Artwork 816

A framed portrait rendered in pencil, charcoal and colored pencil depicts an elongated, mask-like head with large dark eyes and a segmented, multicolored face.

The figure wears formal attire whose broad, smoky charcoal strokes contrast with the delicate, almost childlike application of pastel hues on the face and tie. The work combines playful color divisions with an unsettling, schematic visage: the blank oval eyes and simplified anatomy make the figure both anonymous and emblematic, suggesting themes of identity, disconnection, and the theatricality of social roles.
