A lively, gestural portrait executed in warm brown ink occupies the centre of a tall sheet, the energetic lines describing a caricatured profile and the suggestion of a ruffled collar or garment.

The drawing’s rapid, calligraphic strokes create a spirited surface texture and a strong sense of motion, as if the figure were sketched from life in a single decisive pass. Mounted and framed with a generous mat, the sheet bears small age spots and the artist’s quick signature, reinforcing the spontaneous, documentary quality of the study and its appeal as a succinct exercise in character and line.
