A roughly modeled head cast in a dark, blue-tinged material with a heavily textured, almost lumpy surface; the features are robust and rounded — a bulbous nose, full lips and deeply worked brow — rendered with an expressive, tactile immediacy. The surface retains pronounced tool impressions and irregularities that give the work a visceral, handmade quality. Despite its rough finish, the face radiates warmth: the upturned mouth and generous forms convey an affable, human presence, while the dense texture suggests an expressive process in which gesture and mass take precedence over fine detail.

The result is a bold, sculptural portrait that feels both archaic and contemporary.
