Rosemary Pitjara Petyarre - Bush Medecine Leaves

A vibrant, rhythmic composition of undulating leaf- or seed-like strokes rendered in warm oranges, whites and deep blacks, woven together with dense fields of small white dots. The repeating curved marks form a flowing pattern that suggests movement across a landscape or the surface of water, evoking traditional stories and connections to country through abstraction rather than literal depiction. The painting’s energetic surface and disciplined repetition create a hypnotic visual pulse, balancing positive and negative space with assured control.

The use of dotted accents to define contours and fill voids speaks to a practiced hand and a cultural visual language that transforms simple motifs into a richly textured, living field.
