Biography
Gogi Saroj Pal (1945–2024) was an Indian artist born in Uttar Pradesh. She studied at Banasthali, the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Lucknow, and the College of Art, New Delhi. Working across painting and other media, she developed a practice centred on the human condition and, in particular, the experience of women.
Her recurring Kamadhenu motif became one of her most recognisable visual ideas, evoking generosity and creation while also confronting the pain of exploitation. The result is an oeuvre that is both lyrical and searching, intimate and socially alert.
