Practice & perspective

Cross-hatching as a language of observation

Born in Nagpur in 1953, Bhowmick graduated from Kanpur University in 1973. His practice spans painting, drawing, sculpture and writing.

Working across paper and canvas, he uses interlaced lines to shape light, shadow and human presence. The Foundation’s featured drawing pairs a direct figure study with an expressive, open line.
