Artist Profile

Uday Pandit

A sculptor trained in Patna and New Delhi whose work moves between childhood memory, rural life, and the everyday forms that shape his visual language.

Biography

Uday Pandit is identified in the Odoo inventory as Uday Pandit. External sources refer to him as Uday Kumar Pandit and note that he is from Patna, which aligns with the inventory identity. Khoj Studios’ profile states that he completed a BFA in Sculpture at the College of Arts and Crafts, Patna University, in 2005, and an MFA in Sculpture at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, in 2007.

Khoj’s artist statement says he lives in Delhi and that his work grows out of memories of his village childhood, family pottery, and rural life. Recurring subjects include street dogs in winter, pigs, human anatomy, and the gatharri, or bundle.

Awards & Honours

Khoj’s profile lists award entries for the 77th Annual AIFACS Exhibition, New Delhi (2005), and the State Level AIFACS Exhibition, Patna (2000). This page records those entries as listed in Khoj’s profile and does not add prize titles or ranks that are not verified here.

Exhibitions & Residencies

Khoj lists participation in the National Exhibitions of Art of the Lalit Kala Akademi in 2003–04, 2004–05, and 2005–06, along with group exhibitions at Bodhi Art Gallery (2007), Lalit Kala Academy, Ravindra Bhawan (2003), and other venues.

The Khoj International Workshop Bihar 2009 page names Uday Kumar Pandit among the participants at Tarumitra Ashram, Patna, from 24 October to 7 November 2009. His project, Bioscope, is described there as an installation under a Kadam tree.

The India International Centre annual report for 2016 lists him in the 3–7 December group sculpture exhibition Environment—let us breathe better together.

Selected Works

Bioscope (2009) and Hands Reflection (2017) are documented by Khoj and Ashoka University respectively. No exact match to a Saraswati Foundation collection entry has been verified for either work, so they are noted here only as documented works, not as Foundation inventory.
